Creative uses for HUE

Over the years, we’ve heard of some fantastically interesting things that people have been doing with our HUE camera, and today we learned about another. The folks over at this blog have set up Hue as the ‘eyes’ of a rover they have built. The rover itself is a Raspberry Pi computer rigged up to be able to drive itself around and react to its environment. They’ve even published a guide to help other Raspberry Pi users install HUE on their Linux systems. I wonder what kind of projects we’ll see being worked on next on this exciting new platform?

For those who hadn’t heard of it before, the Raspberry Pi is a great little kit to help get young people (and curious older people) interested in computer science. Although the device itself is tiny and inexpensive, we’ve seen people using it for all kinds of functions commonly associated with huge desktop PCs, and installing an operating system such as Linux gives users access to a vast number of successful applications to work with. We’re pleased to see that HUE users are also getting involved, and can’t wait to see what kind of projects the community comes up with next!
